He is a Columbia University Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery and the Director of Robotic Surgery at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Belsley performs laparoscopic gastric bypass, as well as the lap-band at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center, an accredited American College of Surgery Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery. His clinical practice also includes complex hernias, reflux surgery and operations on the intestines ranging from the esophagus to the colon.

Credentials encompass fellowship training in robotics, advanced laparoscopic surgery as well as bariatric surgery. Acknowledging that clinical care is best provided by one who understands the risks and benefits of new technology in the setting of surgical disease, Dr. Belsley is as an active researcher and mentor at the SLRHC Robotics and Surgical Sciences Laboratory. Dr. Belsley regularly presents pioneering research examining the evolving roles of robotics, NOTES and advanced laparoscopic techniques at both national and international meetings.
